Cisco 3300 Series
The Cisco ISR 3303 combines SONET reliability and Layer 3 awareness at the edge of the network in a single platform. The Cisco ISR 3303 is generally deployed at the edge of the SONET network in a multitenant environment. Traditional leased-line DS1 services can be offered to support PBX digital trunk interfaces, digital loop carrier systems, T1 channel banks, T1 interfaces to Frame relay FRADs, or ATM T1 multiplexers. The Ethernet interfaces can support a variety of service interfaces that can be configured for either bridging or routing, and connect to a local LAN via 10BaseT to a hub, switch, or router.
These DS1 and 10BaseT interfaces can be mapped into a channelized SONET OC-3 interface for WAN connectivity into a SONET network using Automatic Protection Switching (APS) or Uni-directional Path Switched Ring (UPSR) protection mechanisms. T1/DS1 services are mapped into VT 1.5s. Ethernet services are mapped into SONET compliant Wideband Packet-over-SONET (WPOS). WPOS provides data bandwidth scalability by mapping Ethernet services via PPP into a single DS1 for service rates of 1.4 Mbps, These DS1s encapsulating the data are then mapped directly into SONET to ensure network compatibility.
The system supports 1:1 redundancy for system processor/router, Cisco IOS and config file, Ethernet interfaces, DS1 interfaces, and system power.
